Greetings! my name is Ken and I am a recovering alcoholic. I have worked the 12 Steps many times since 6/10/78. I am considered a "step commando" by some. At the beginning, one of the things that I had trouble with was the wording of the phrase "God as I understand Him." I needed to learn who my God or Higher Power was. I tried various churches to find my Higher Power and located God in MCC. I brought the body and the mind followed.

MCC did not tell me who my God was. It let me decide who and what the Higher Power meant to me. Being raised in the Christian faith I had been told of a God that did not mean anything to me but bad vibes. Today, thanks to MCC I know of a loving and caring Higher Power whom I call God, my own interpretation not that of the ministers, elders, or teachers of the church.

I have come to understand a new meaning to the Steps and have a guide to finding them in the Bible. I am willing to share this understanding with any who are curious and also willing to learn. I continue to learn new and different ideas each and every day with the steps as my guide.

It is fun to sit in church and listen to Pastor talk through his sermon and understand that he is talking about his ideas of the steps.

Recovery comes in many ways and can be found through many doors and windows. Why not come and see if you can not find another form of meeting to keep you on the spiritual way.
